Tropicana Chocolate Dipped Orange 'N Cream Bar

Tropicana Chocolate Dipped Orange 'N Cream Bar

Nothing beats a frozen dairy treat as a refreshing snack after sitting in a stale studio all day.

Remember Dreamsicles? Ahhh...there was something about that combination of orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream. Well, Tropicana has added a new twist to that in their Chocolate Dipped Orange 'n Cream bars. As you can tell from the name--they dipped it in chocolate. And coming from Tropicana, the orange juice people, you'd expect a good orange flavor. (Is it really from Tropicana though? On the box is says "manufactured under authority of Integrated Brands Inc...and under license from Tropicana Products, Inc.")

The dark chocolate coating was actually pretty tasty. But their description of "rich vanilla reduced fat ice cream surrounded with Creamy Orange Sherbet" was stretching it. The orange wasn't really orange sherbet--it was more like orange popsicle. And the vanilla ice cream being reduced fat was more like typical vanilla ice milk--hardly what I would call rich. Still, it amounted to a fairly tasty combination. And one other note--the picture on the box is deceiving--it makes it look like there is vanilla ice cream in the very first bite when in reality it was only chocolate and orange sherbet for about 20% of the bar.

An iffy recommendation, but in the end Anomie Train never turns down ice cream.
